Colorado

Just had a chance to visit Colorado for the first time. Stayed on the "front range" ie Denver, Boulder, Manitou Springs. next time I'd like to explore the mountain range itself more, but also go in the height of summer. Even though the pictures below don't reflect it, it was gloriously sunny most of the time and 10 degrees warmer than New York.

Denver

old meets new

lots of condos and new construction going on

random amusement park next to bike path
Rockies in background

Denver art museum

kool Indian art

hiking in the Rockies

sweet mountain high

we hiked up 2 miles and it got colder & more windy as we went

the lakes were frozen & ice on parts of path, meanwhile it was about 60 degrees down in Boulder.

random elk with one antler eating next to someone's mailbox

climbing up Pikes Peak on a cog railway

big horn sheep

this was elevation 14,000 ft looking east towards Kansas

this is looking north/west at the rest of the Rockies range

it was 64 degrees at the base and 16 degrees at the summit! freezing and very windy

this woman decided to smoke when there's barely enough oxygen breathe.

vertical drop above treeline

Garden of the Gods park

it was so organized & preserved it seemed fake.

popular with rock climbers though

this is what the airport looks like when you fly a "red-eye"
